GENERAL INFORMATION:

LOOK NO FURTHER!!!! "This yacht" is a yachtsmans YACHT! She has been completely restored, and is drop dead gorgeous!!! We are thrilled to be the owners "BROKERS OF CHOICE", to represent this magnificent, hugely equipped, proven bluewater vet. "This yacht" is one of the most "famous and well known of the Valiant 40's" and the name has remained the same lovely name, given to her by her original owners, Larry and Lettalou Sexton, authors of the TEXAS CRUISING GUIDE. Many photos of "This yacht" are within the pages of this well known guide. The Sexton's were actually married in Seattle with the listing agents, Sylvia and Stanley Dabney witnessing as their maid of honor and best man, the day they signed the contract to have this boat built, in 1976.

There are MANY wonderful stories to be told and many warm and endearing memories to be shared with the new owners of "This yacht". The current owners continue to have a warm relationship with Lettalou Sexton and have cared for and loved this yacht in the manner suiting a fine, traditional and famous yacht.

Naval Architect Bob Perry, has incorporated into this sturdy double ender, both seaworthiness and ample interior space that offers steady and comfortable cruising. "This yacht" is a perfect example of a classic Perry offshore design and is one of the nicest of these classic Valiant 40's to come on the market. Incorporating a tumble home stern, bulwarks, dorades, opening ports, oversize rigging and quality construction, the Valiant 40 is a modern classic. Performance has become synonymous with Valiant and is in no small way responsible for its success. SAIL Magazine selected the Valiant 40 as the "Offshore Cruiser of the Decade".
ACCOMMODATIONS & LAYOUT: This well maintained yacht, sleeps five people in accommodations with the Starboard V-Quarter Berth, main salon settees and quarter berth cabin. Like all Valiant Yachts, the main salon settees and the quarter berth make excellent offshore sleeping quarters. The interior of the Valiant 40' is dry, bright, comfortable and well ventilated with 10-screened opening ports, 5 large opening hatches and a large companionway hatch. "This yacht" is styled with the heritage of the finest features found in the most sought after yachting accommodations.

Custom built cabinetry and features throughout this beautiful yacht, far exceed the standard layout of this much sought after traditional, side entry Valiant, with the Captains quarters in the port double aft quarter berth, custom galley cabinetry, custom Chart Table cabinetry and custom lockers and cabinets in the V-quarter berth. She is a modern version of the famous "traditional layout" Valiant 40' which has taken more sailors on circumnavigations, than any other yacht design ever built.

Below the water line, the hull shows a fine entry with a long cutaway forefoot followed by an efficient and modern keel section and a deep profile skeg hung rudder, just forward of a tapered stern section. This design combination readily separates the Valiant from other traditional yachts and offers ease of handling and lively performance.

The interior of "This yacht" features the traditional tri-cabin layout with large aft staterooms and a spacious central salon. The main salon is open and inviting with large settees, providing for comfortable berths at sea, a wide sole and numerous stowage areas.

The overhead is drop-down Formica panels with teak battens for ease of installation and inspection of below deck fittings. She features private accommodations for the owners in the aft stateroom, a single berth forward, plus settee berths for additional guests.

Most forward and aft of the chain locker, you will find the V-quarter berth with lockers, file cabinet type drawer and extensive storage in custom teak lockers. There are only 3 Valiant 40's with this interior arrangement. There is a large storage area under, accessible both from top opening hatches and starboard sliding doors. There is a large opening hatch above the berth, and an additional forward port for good deck vision and superb forward ventilation. The forward cabin is closed off by a teak door. Next aft to port is a large head with ample storage, several lockers and cupboards and ventilation is excellent, with opening port in head, plus an overhead opening hatch..again, a unique feature to this boat.

Directly across and to starboard is one very large, full length hanging locker with bookshelves over. There is also a screened opening port. All locker doors have louvered vents for air circulation. There is also a full 4 level shelf-top locker next to the hanging locker with additional ventilation.

Moving aft is the main salon which is located amidships with large comfortable settees to port and starboard, with custom cusions, a custom bulkhead mounted, drop down teak table, for dining to port or which opens for a double, full salon dining table. There is a large opening hatch overhead and large opening ports with screens. Storage is abundant on "This yacht" with custom cabinet and drawer on both the starboard and port sides over settee and book shelves forward and abundant storage areas behind settees. "This yacht" also has a chart storage locker for flat storage of up to 500 charts, incorporated in a custom locker in the main saloon. Teak & spruce sole in main salon, forward and aft cabins.

Aft of the main salon and to starboard, is a proper offshore, forward facing navigation station and chart table with tremendous room for an exceptional compliment of navigation and electronic equipment for easy use while navigating. The large nav table has a large storage locker under the desk top and room for the additional electronic navigation and communication equipment outboard. A custom teak book locker for the 3 ring binders which hold ships papers and manuals, has been added above the chart table athwartship. Overhead, a built in sky light has been added…an innovative way to incorporate more light below and also to see the sail trim, while working at the navigation station.

Just aft of the nav station and directly across from the galley are two huge lockers, one a pantry with shelf top lockers, which provides a tremendous amount of space for provisions, the other, a large, full length wet locker. There is a teak grate built into the teak and holly sole, at the bottom of the companionway, to catch water from wet gear. With the wet locker and teak draining grate, which drains to the bilge, all foul weather gear is kept aft and away from the main living quarters. All locker doors are ventilated.

Aft of the main salon and to port, is the classic "wrap around" or, "U" shape configured, offshore safe galley, that will delight the gourmet, whether at sea or dockside. There is generous cabinet & counter space, galley drawers, a single doored locker under the sink, 1 large deep stainless steel sink and 1 large shallow stainless steel sink, 3 burner, gimbaled propane HilleRange with oven, hot & cold pressure water, galley fresh water Manual pump, as well as a foot operated Salt Water Pump.

Over the galley is a large opening hatch and an opening screened port for light and ventilation. Again, you will note that great thought and attention to detail by experienced sailors, was put forth, when the owners designed and had built, a large custom cabinet with shelves and silverware drawers above the sinks. Grunert dual (110 & Shoreside assist) 12Vlt. Freezer & Fridge, in a large well insulated athwartship box. the system is air or water cooled. The galley also has a Microwave.

Next aft to port is the Captains aft cabin. There is a double berth with storage, dressing seat, shelftop locker ensuite. The aft stateroom also has excellent ventilation provided by an overhead hatch and 2 opening ports with screens. There is a full mirror across the full end of the bullhead at the end of the berth.

Below deck ventilation far surpasses the standards in the industry. This yacht incorporates beautiful teak and holly sole and a new England style interior with white painted bulkheads and varnished teak trim, teak cabinets and teak lockers.

ABOVE DECK, DECK HARDWARE & SAFETY:
The topsides of "This yacht", features a large unobstructed deck and cabin top. Safe & secure deck work is ensured with raised bulwarks, heavy stanchion bases with double lifelines, full length teak handrails on coachroof and heavy stainless steel mast guards. The large and comfortable cockpit is self bailing with oversized scuppers, designed for heavy weather sailing. Excellent visibility from all positions is consistent with the proven offshore capability that the sailing world expects from a serious bluewater yacht. The current owners have just completed a West to East Panama transit, completing a 13,000 mile voyage.
The mast is keel stepped, Hull color is white and the whale stripe and boot stripe are a deep rich green which compliments the Sunbrella covers on the roller furling, mail sail cover, custom factory hard dodger, stern spray canvas and assorted custom canvas cover.
