General Information:

The Tayana Vancouver 42 often describes the epitome of live-aboard and blue water passage making. No cocktail cruiser this one! Control & comfort have been a central consideration from her conception. With her solid fiberglass hull and canoe stern she is easily sailed by a couple in any cruising weather, The Vancouver 42 literally begs to be set free from the constraints of a marina. The hull lines are fine, both at entry and exit, the modified fin keel is long and set well aft providing for a quick, easily driven hull. There are no hard corners, or big flat areas for the sea to hit. The Vancouver 42 is a true cutter rig. She is rigged for efficient sailing with her control lines led neatly to the cockpit, with deck gear more often seen on a racer than a fast cruiser. Down below you will find an interior that borders on enormous with a masterful blend of intimate space and a feeling of openness. Built for living aboard and cruising, she has a full size head, teak cabin soles, solid teak and spruce staving, plus plenty of light and ventilation. Numerous lockers and drawers easily swallow an abundance of cruising gear. The Vancouver 42, having just returned from a year long cruise proves once again that it is not only possible but a pleasure to take her anywhere. She is ready to leave again with her new crew.

Accommodations & Layout:

The interior of this step decked classic features a tremendous amount of storage, with a lot of lockers and cabinets which are essential to the live-aboard cruiser. The Vancouver 42 sleeps 6 in 3 cabins. Starting aft in the raised deck area and working forward, is a large double berth to port followed by a wet locker and a proper forward facing chart table. To starboard is the galley. As we proceed to the lower salon, a large dinette is to port with a settee to starboard. In the forward cabin is the head on the port side with hanging lockers to starboard. The forward double berth is an offset Pullman berth. Forward of this is a large sail locker and the chain locker. Four overhead hatches, and 3 opening and 8 fixed ports provide plenty of ventilation and light into the cabins. The cushions were recovered in 1995 with a extremely durable medium blue cotton weave.

Galley:

The raised deck U-Shaped galley ensures both easy access when passage making and easy food preparation when at dock or anchor. The cold plate refrigeration system is both engine and 110V drive. Other amenities include a Kenyon 3 burner propane stove with oven, Microwave oven, Magma Charcoal Bar-B-Q grill, and a PUR 35 watermaker. Manual fresh water foot pumps are found in the galley and the head supplementing the pressure Hot/Cold water system.
